FAQs

HAF Camps

How will my child be kept safe regarding COVID-19?

We have a full operational protocol to explain how we are keeping safe at our camps which you can request to see a copy of. We are closely following government guidelines.

What does my child need to bring?

Our holiday camp will be based outside so please send your child in wearing weather appropriate clothing. All children must wear trainers, it is optional for children to wear football boots when football is played. Please send your child in with a water bottle for the day but there is no need to send any food as this will be provided. You may wish to send your child in with a snack.

What time do I need to drop off/pick up my child?

Please check your camp specific page for more information.

Will coaches be able to help children tie shoe laces?

Yes, as this is less than 15 minutes of close interaction our coaches will be able to help tie up shoe laces. We will ask children to face away while the coach ties up their laces.

Will you provide lunch?

Yes! Your child will be provided with a healthy packed lunch every day that they attend the camp. When you book your child in you will have a chance to indicate if your child would like the meat or veggie option. This option is only for children with a HAF code - others must provide their own packed lunch.

What if my child doesn't like the lunch options?

The menu on offer is varied, healthy and tasty! However, we know children may have foods that they dislike. When you book your child onto the camp you will have indicated if they would like the meat or veggie option each day. If there is any specific food which your child does not like you can email us on info@u-sports.co.uk and we will help you to find a solution.

Will you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?

Yes! When you book on there will be an option to let us know of any allergies or dietary requirements. We will then pass this information onto our external food provider to ensure that your child gets the right meal.

Will you apply suncream?

No, we cannot apply sun screen to children. Please send the appropriate factor in with your child and we will remind them throughout the day to apply it.

What if my child doesn't enjoy it?

Trust us, they will! But if there are any problems our site manager will get in touch with you if your child has any problems throughout the day.

What if my child gets injured?

All of our head coaches are First Aid trained. Any injuries will be reported on an accident form which you will be shown at the end of the day. If there is an emergency you will be contacted immediately.

Who can join the HAF camps for free?

Any child who is eligible for free school meals can join the camp for free. You will need to receive a code to book on from the relevant local authority and you are good to go! More booking information can be found on each camp page. If your child is not eligible for free school meals but you would like them to attend, our camps also have a paid option so there are opportunities for everyone to get involved!

How do I book?

Please visit your camp specific page as booking varies depending on which local council your camp is run in association with.

Are the HAF camps on over the Christmas holidays?

Yes! Our camps will be back this Christmas with new venues added!

Multi-Sports

How will my child be kept safe regarding COVID-19?

We have a full operational protocol to explain how we are keeping safe at our camps which you can request to see a copy of. We are closely following government guidelines.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes! 10% Sibling Discount Book your first child on and receive a 10% discount for each additional child you book on. This will be applied automatically. This does not apply to friend or cousin bookings, children must be siblings. Multi-Day Booking Discount If you book for multiple days we offer a discounted rate at our camps.

Which group should I book my child onto?

For Woodley Football Plus only you will need to book into the appropriate age group for your child. For all other paid camps you just need to book the mixed age group and children will be split into age appropriate groups on the day. Our groups are based on your child's year group for the current school year. There may be children attending who are not in the suggested age range for that group for example if they are a sibling attending a group with their brother or sister or a child who it has been discussed with the uSports team that they would be better suited to a younger or older age group.

Will siblings be together?

As of June 2021, siblings no longer need to attend the same group at a uSports camp. If you would like your children to join the same group but they are different ages then you are still welcome to do so but the choice is now yours.

My child wants to be with their friend, how can I do this?

If you would like your child to be in the same group as a friend, please make sure to arrange this with the parent or guardian of the other child and make sure to both book onto the same group.

What does my child need to bring?

Your child is more than welcome to bring football boots but trainers are essential. We will provide all necessary equipment for all the sports and activities your child will take part in. On football camps, children are required to bring and use shin pads. Weather appropriate clothing and items: hats, gloves, change of clothes for rainy days, suncream. Food! A packed lunch, plenty of water and a few snacks.

What if the weather gets bad?

We have enough gazebos for all children to take shelter under within their assigned groups. Please be aware that we will have minimal or no indoor facilities due to venue and government restrictions. There is also a significantly lower risk of spreading COVID while outside so would always prioritise outdoor activities at this time. We will persevere through any rainy days and ensure that the days are still super fun! In the case of a day needing to be cancelled due to extreme weather, you will either be able to transfer your booking to another day or can hold your booking fee as a credit towards futue bookings.

What is 'Football Plus'

We will be offering the camp as a ‘Football Plus’ camp. The camp will primarily be focused on football skills and activities. However, due to social distancing restrictions we will also be offering a range of other sports and activities which comply with social distancing regulations. There will be matches held during the day which will not need to adhere to social distancing guidelines, as set out in the FA guidance.

What time do I need to drop off/pick up my child?

Drop off is from 8:30am and pick up is at 3pm. The main camp day is 9am - 3pm. There is a presentation every day at 2:50pm where we give out prizes which parents are welcome to watch.

What happens if someone shows symptoms or tests positive?

Test and Trace will manage any positive cases and we will work closely with them to ensure they have all the relevant information.

How do toilet runs work?

Depending on current guidelines and venue choice toilet runs will work in one of two ways: 1. Coaches will escort children to the toilets inside the venue. These will be regularly cleaned by the venue. 2. Portable toilets will be hired and allocated to each individual group to use throughout the day. These will be regularly cleaned by uSports.

Will coaches be able to help tie shoe laces?

Yes, as this is less than 15 minutes of close interaction our coaches will be able to help to tie up shoe laces. We will ask children to face away while the coach ties up their laces for them.

Will you provide lunch?

No, please provide your child with a packed lunch, snack and a drinks bottle at all venues.

Will you apply suncream

No, we cannot apply sun screen to children. Please send the appropriate factor with your child and we will remind them throughout the day to apply it.

What if my child doesn't enjoy it?

Trust us, they will. But, just for peace of mind we offer a money back guarantee!

What if my child gets injured?

All of our head coaches are First Aid trained. Any injuries will be reported on an accident form which you will be shown at the end of the day. If there is an emergency you will be contacted immediately.

Do you offer half days?

We will not be offering half days at present to ensure that our groups remain consistent throughout the day.

How do extended days work?

Some of our camps have an extended day option. If your camp has this option you can select to book the extended day for an additional £8 for any specific dates. Extended days run from 3pm - 5:30pm in an indoor space. We will be running a film club for children to relax after a long day of sporty activities and will have other quiet activities available such as board games. A great way to wind down after a jam packed day at the camp!

COVID UPDATE Sep 2021

We continue to operate with safety measures in place. 'Bubbles' are no longer required. We will operate separate groups where possible to reduce interactions. From 16th August children will not have to isolate if they are a close contact. There are no limits on numbers so we will determine numbers based on venue capacity.
