uSports is a constantly growing business so new opportunities to work with us regularly arise. We have a range of ways in which you can work with us at uSports from apprenticeships, contracted coaching & leadership roles as well as self-employed coaching roles.

APPRENTICESHIPS
uSports offer Level 2 & Level 4 Apprenticeships in association with SCL. These are 18 month long paid apprenticeships where your formal training will be provided by SCL and in house experience and mentoring will be through uSports. All formal training currently takes place online.
Most coaches take on the Level 4 Apprenticeship so the below information relates to this route, we are able to offer the Level 2 so speak to us for further details on this.

SENIOR APPRENTICE SPORTS COACH

Depending on your development and confidence in the role. Many of our apprentices will take on this role within 3-6 months. This would not affect the duration of the 18 months.
For those who can lead large groups with minimal support. Mentoring will continue.

SELF-EMPLOYED COACHES
WHAT WORK IS AVAILABLE?
With our ever growing list of educational settings, we often have work available between 3pm-4.30pm. After School Club coaches will need to be energetic, fun and comfortable working with at least 14 young people at one time. We also have many opportunities to work at Lunchtime Clubs around 12pm-1pm as well as some morning clubs.
We also have a large number of PE lessons taking place from around 1pm-3pm as well as Teacher CPD training for experienced coaches who are able to upskill teachers to deliver higher quality PE lessons.
Most of our work is in Primary Schools alongside sessions in Nurseries and Secondary Schools. We also have our own community programme including Toddler Football, Football Development Centres and Holiday Camps.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED?
At least a Level 1 Coaching Qualification
Driving licence and access to a car
Ability to obtain a DBS with uSports
First Aid Qualification
Safeguarding Certificate (we can help you with this)
Some experience leading or assisting sports sessions
Passion, enthusiasm and a friendly manner!
WHAT WILL I BE PAID?
As a self-employed coach you will invoice uSports for your services. You will have a pre-agreed rate for each session. For example, an after school club is paid at £21. This factors in your time getting to a session and travel costs.
WHO CAN BE A SELF-EMPLOYED COACH?
Just about anyone! As long as you are over 16 and meet our qualification criteria you can work with us as a self employed coach. Currently we have coaches who are in sixth form, working as personal trainers or university students returning for the holidays. Self employed coaches will fit their uSports sessions in around their other commitments and have a wide range of backgrounds!

WHAT WILL A CONTRACTED HEAD SPORTS COACH DO?
Our contracted Head Sports Coaches will be confident in leading large groups of children and will be able to deliver sessions across the full range of our provision, including:

You will need all of the same qualifications as a self-employed coach as well as a minimum of 1 years experience of sports coaching ideally in a school setting.
WHAT WILL I BE PAID?
£15,704 - £19,110
You will be on our 6 point pay scale and will be contracted to work 25 hours a week all year round including school holidays.
There are frequent overtime opportunities and a number of our head coaches take on roles within the office in addition to these hours.
SENIOR TEAM
While not as frequent as our other roles, as we constantly expand and develop we are regularly looking for experienced individuals to join our senior leadership team. Keep an eye out on LinkedIn or our social media platforms for updates on when these roles come up and for more details!
