How Does It Work?
Our Teacher CPD programme offers a structured approach to enhancing teachers' skills, knowledge and confidence in delivering PE lessons. Here's how it works:
Partnership with PE Mentors: Our experienced PE Mentors collaborate closely with your teachers in their own classrooms. They provide guidance, support, and practical insights to improve teachers' understanding and implementation of effective PE teaching practices.
Individualised CPD Programme: Each teacher participating in the programme receives a physical copy of the uSports CPD handbook. This handbook serves as a guide for their professional development journey and outlines the key areas to focus on during the term and is highly adaptable to suit the needs of each teacher.
Progressive Learning Process: The programme follows a gradual progression. Initially, teachers observe the mentor in action, gaining valuable insights into effective teaching strategies. As the programme progresses, teachers gradually take on more responsibility, leading parts of the PE sessions themselves. Mentor feedback and guidance are provided throughout the process to ensure continuous improvement.
Self-Review and Evaluation: At the beginning and end of the programme, teachers complete a self-review process. This enables them to reflect on their progress, identify areas of growth, and track their professional development. The self-review also provides a clear demonstration of the results achieved, both for individual teachers and for the school as a whole. This evidence can be valuable for Ofsted inspections, showcasing the effective utilisation of the PE & Sport Premium budget and the ongoing development of teachers.
By engaging in our teacher CPD programme, schools benefit from a collaborative and targeted approach to enhancing PE delivery. Teachers receive individualised support and guidance, leading to improved teaching practices and outcomes for students. The self-review process ensures accountability and helps schools demonstrate the impact of their investment in professional development.
