The tournament will be taking place at Woodford Park Leisure Centre on both the grass pitches and the 3G pitches. The post code for the leisure centre is RG5 4LY. There is free parking on site but please be aware that space will be limited due to the number of teams participating so please allow plenty of time for parking.

Group Stage:

• Teams are divided into four groups of six teams each.

• Each group uses a round robin format, where every team plays every other team in their group once.
  

Knockout Stage (Placement):

• The top three teams from each group (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) advance to a knockout stage to determine their overall position in the tournament.

  • 1st place teams compete for 1st to 4th place.

  • 2nd place teams compete for 5th to 8th place.

  • 3rd place teams compete for 9th to 12th place.

• The winning team from the 1st place group knockout stage will be awarded the prestigious uSports Woodley Carnival Trophy for the year.

  • The trophy will be presented to the winning school and they can have it engraved with their school name to commemorate their victory.

  • The school will hold onto the trophy until next year's tournament.

  • There will be separate uSports Woodley Carnival Trophies awarded for the boys and girls tournaments.

Knockout Stage (Participation):

• Teams that finish 4th, 5th, or 6th in their group go into a separate participation knockout stage.

• These teams are randomly placed into groups of three.

• Each participation group plays a mini knockout competition to determine a winner within that group.

  • There will be three participation group winners.

Total Matches:

• Each team will play a total of seven matches, assuming all 24 teams participate in the tournament.

Yes, there is a fee of £50 per team to help cover the tournament's operational costs. This is a not-for-profit event fully funded by uSports.

Every school that enters a team into the tournament will be automatically in with a chance to win this prize. The bundle is designed to help you elevate the delivery of sport in your school, aligning perfectly with uSports' philosophy of "Putting You First."

The winning school will be the one whose team best embodies the following uSports philosophies:

• Providing Opportunity: We exist to ensure as many children as possible have a chance to enjoy a variety of sports at a young age.

What's Included in the Prize Bundle:

• One-Day Workshop Event: Choose a sport of your choice (subject to availability) and receive a full day of coaching expertise.

• Twilight CPD Session: Learn valuable coaching techniques through an evening session focused on the sport you selected for the workshop.

• Sports Equipment: You'll receive a selection of equipment specifically suited to your chosen sport to keep for your school.

The tournament takes place on Friday, June 13th, the day before the carnival.

  • Arrive: 9:00 am

  • Welcome: 9:15 am

  • Kick Off: 9:30 am

  • Presentation: 12:30 pm

• Boys Tournament:

  • Arrive: 1:30 pm

  • Welcome: 1:45 pm

  • Kick Off: 2:00 pm

  • Presentation: 5:00 pm

Hot food and drinks as well as ice creams will be available for purchase. Food will be provided by Claire's Cafes, run by uSports Coach Glyn and his partner Claire.

The Woodley Carnival Schools Football Tournament used to be a longstanding tradition alongside a netball tournament. Sadly, it ended in recent years. However, uSports is excited to bring it back! The tournament is run with the full support of the Woodley Carnival Committee and is directly connected to the carnival itself. You'll also find uSports as headline sponsors at the carnival on Saturday!

Matches will be fast-paced and exciting, lasting 7 minutes each.

Each school can register one boys team and one girls team for the tournament.

Teams will be 7-a-side, with a maximum of 10 children allowed per team. All participating children should have equal playing time throughout the tournament.

All Woodley schools will be guaranteed a spot in the tournament until the end of April. Remaining spaces will be open to schools in the local area. There are 24 spots available for both the boys and girls tournaments.

By registering for the tournament, it will be presumed that all children can be photographed during the event unless we are told explicitly by schools that there are any children who are unable to be photographed.

Absolutely! Parents and spectators are welcome to come and cheer on the teams.

No! The format of the tournament means that during the knockout rounds after the initial round robin stage all teams will take place in either the competition or participation knockout matches.

The winning boys team & the winning girls team will each be awarded with a uSports Woodley Carnival Schools Football Tournament Trophy which the winning schools will be able to keep.

Yes there will be uSports first aiders on site, where possible we ask schools to manage their own first aid if you have a first aider with you but if needed you can head over to the first aid/registration tent and we will have Paediatric First Aiders on site to support.
